Knowing that the design element was what Scott enjoyed most about the building industry he undertook the National Diploma in Architectural Technology and later became a Licenced Building Practitioner. Prior to moving into design, Scott worked as a carpenter’s apprentice, giving him a greater appreciation of what it takes to turn an idea into reality.
Having worked for some great design firms in Tauranga, Scott also enjoyed a few years in Cardiff, Wales working on designing and building a range of secondary schools throughout the United Kingdom.
Scott and Karen then decided to fulfil their ambitions of creating their own company, establishing Ambience Architecture in 2012. Having their own business has allowed them the creative freedom to produce work they feel passionate about, resulting in lasting relationships with both clients and builders.
Scott has a real understanding of the mechanics behind a building, particularly the technical and practical side of what good residential design needs to incorporate. Builders that work with Scott appreciate the attention to detail he puts into plans which means they don’t have to down tools to question the design and can get on with their work, saving the client time and money.
Every project becomes a passion to give clients a home they will love! Scott and Karen only take on a certain number of projects at a time and believe in staying engaged with the client throughout the whole project.
For Scott, winding down involves the whole family, kicking or throwing a ball around with his two boys, tramping and cruising on his motorbike.
